Soldiers? – Little Me – Nature Girl

£25.00

A fine art Giclee print of my original watercolour and graphite pencil artwork.

An illustration of a ‘little me’ Tiny Bluebelle, clutching onto a ribwort plantain.

“When we were wee, we always called these ‘soldiers’… 🌱

Steadfast and tall in the hedgerows. Road edges were where we gathered them, a game to play while we waited for the school bus at Tifty road end. Striking one green stem to another, who was the victor? Who had the strongest plant?

Plants and the nature around us proved joy enough. We played outside. We found fun simply in the fields around us. Hay bales. Streams and burns. The Moss. The woods. The big tree. The top of the ‘big’hill.

We were out there in the big wide world fighting for those daylight hours as long as we could muster.

All together or singularly on pedal bike and lane.

I think of ‘home’ often. 🌱

They grow there still.

Although those children we were then, have all left, moved on to pastures new… I’m sure sometimes, a child will walk hand in hand with their family down our road still. Pick a handful of stems. Perhaps not play the same game… but still joy will be found from the same simple places.”

Printed on Hahnemuhle German etching paper. A4 in size. Comes unframed. Packaged upon heavy duty cardboard and within Eco film envelope. Signed and titled.
