A coaltit said ‘hello’

Greetings Card based on an original graphite drawing of my own.

“A coal tit followed me through the woods on my way home the other day… and yesterday in my parents garden, one pottered about in the tree above me.

Tiny finds, this week collected. The feather of a crow, purple ended with blackness almost hypnotic. A snail shell. Empty and unhoused. Void of snail inhabitant. Beautiful nevertheless. A pocket sized horse shoe. My dad gave me last weekend. He found it, with no knowledge from whence it came. It felt like a treasure.

Symbolic and significant. Every find. Every moment. Every thought in these last 11 days have felt held and deep. As if poignancy is moreso because she is no longer here. As if messages are arriving at my feet. Into my hands. Brought to my eyes and my awareness. Heartfelt.

All the tears I’ve cried, heavy and hollow… cavernous and yet SO full. Of love. Of sadness. Of loss. Of nothing. Of EVERYTHING…

I put pencil to paper, therefore, and crafted this little soul. Poised and meant. This coal tit. To mark and make memory of the little bird where I have a ‘feeling’ my Mums spirit resides for now.”
